ATV Jamboree Rides Descriptions

At this point ALL rides are pending approval and permitting by the appropriate authorities. Once the exact rides are set we will update this page as needed. We currently are working on 12 distinct rides.

ALL rides require that you transport your own ATV to the Designated Staging Areas. We can not ride ATVs directly from the Jamboree Headquarters to the trails as in the past.

Please note that you will need to provide your own sack lunch while on the rides.

Click on Ride Difficulty Definitions to see a detailed explanation of the rating.

Flag required for the Sand Dunes.

 "Ride Difficulty Definitions"

bulletBeginner: These rides are almost wholly on dirt roads in the trail system, some may contains short paved or graveled road sections. Some of the beginner rides may include short moderately steep sections or switchbacks.
bulletIntermediate: Intermediate rides generally include some road and ATV trail portions with some steep, rough or challenging trails. A ride may also be intermediate in nature due to its length.
bulletAdvanced: Advanced rides will generally include portions that are steep, rough, and otherwise difficult to maneuver. In some cases, rides are listed as advanced because of the length of the ride.

Ride Descriptions

#1. GUNLOCK/GOLDSTRIKE LOOP:
Difficulty:  "INTERMEDIATE"
Trail Head:  The Gunlock/Goldstrike Loop will begin from a trailhead located north of the town of Gunlock, approximately one hour from Jamboree headquarters and will require transportation of your ATV from Jamboree headquarters by trailer.
Route Description and Type of TerrainThe route reaches a maximum elevation of about 6,400 feet as it winds through rugged pinion-juniper mountains before descending into the Beaver Dam Wash north of Motoqua.  This affords good views of the Bull Valley Mountains, Clover Mountains in Nevada and the desert to the south as the route passes abandoned mining locations on Mineral Mountain along the way.  It then returns through the Goldstrike mining area and back to the trailhead.  This route is moderately long, +/- 60 miles.  It consists of maintained and non-maintained roads and is rated INTERMEDIATE in difficulty due to short road segments that may be affected by flooding.  Cooler temperatures may be expected on this loop.
Miles:  60 miles +/-

#2. JOSHUA FOREST LOOP:
Difficulty:
 "INTERMEDIATE"
Trail Head:
The Joshua Forest Loop will start at a location either south or west of the town of Gunlock and require one or one and one-half hour of travel time to reach the trailhead depending on the chosen location and will require transportation of your ATV from Jamboree headquarters by trailer.
Route Description and Type of TerrainThe length of the loop will also vary from +/-45 to +/-65 miles depending on which trailhead location is used.  The area is largely desert terrain with abundant Joshua Trees that in places create a "forest".  The loop crosses the normally dry Beaver Dam Wash at two locations.  The maximum elevation would be 4,200 feet.  Portions of the route would be considered EASY, being on maintained roads, while other portions would be considered INTERMEDIATE where lesser-used roads may be affected by flooding.
Miles:  65 miles +/-

#3. CASTLE CLIFF LOOP:
Difficulty:
 "INTERMEDIATE "
Trail Head:
The Castle Cliff Loop begins in the historic Castle Cliff area along old Highway 91, which is approximately one hour from Jamboree headquarters.
Route Description and Type of TerrainThe route climbs quickly through pinion-juniper vegetation to the top of West Mountain Peak at an elevation of 7,300 feet where snow would be expected.  This offers spectacular panoramic views of the Beaver Dam Wash drainage, the Mesquite, Nevada area, and beyond.  It then descends through desert terrain to an area near the historic Lytle Ranch, which is a desert oasis on the Beaver Dam Wash at an elevation of approximately 4,200 feet.  Portions of this loop are on non-maintained roads that can be steep and technical and would give this loop an over-all rating of INTERMEDIATE in difficulty.
