Need advise on Shoshone ATV trail system
09/27/11 at 12:39:28

My wife and I are planning on a ride on the Shoshone Trail System and we wanted to run over to Ephram's Grave area. Any advise on how the trails are out there. The reason I ask is my wife is a moderate rider and I was wondering if there is any rough spots we might encounter that may be to challenging for her. I think were starting from the Randolph Trail Head Area.

Thanks in advance everyone!

Most of what you will encounter are roads / jeep Trails . I was just at Ephraims week before last . Toads/ trails are in good shape .

Elk Valley loops get a bit tougher so you might want to stay away from those  . Wink

From Randolph you will be looking at about 80 miles round trip - all on forest roads.  There should not be anything difficult to ride.  I would suggest going up New Canyon and come back Old Canyon making a loop.  If you have a ShoshoneTrail map that would be trails 18,48,44,50,52,3,2,27,3,4,5,18.  It should be a pretty ride this time of year.  I haven't ridden it this year.  So I'm not sure of road conditions.  There might be some ruts.  But I wouldn't expect it to be too bad unless we get a lot of rain and the hunters dig it up with their trucks.

As QF mentioned, all of the toads (roads) are in really good shape.

Note that...  Almost everything is road, not trail.  Elk Valley is some nice 2-track and gets pretty tight.  Also, the Temple Mountain road, west of trail 3, to Highway 89 is pretty rough.

We rode up there 3 weeks ago and had a great time.

Well , my daughter has informed me that I will be taking her and a couple of her friend for a ride on Friday on the Shoshone .

We all know that that means that I will be able to report on the Toads after I get back .

Well...if you hit any Freddies we could make "Toadstools" out of what is left.

Now I don't care who you are. That's funny
I can vouch for the offered tow service too!

I'm going to find the folks that make " Chain saw Bears "  and get them to start making " Toad Stool Freddies " .  I'll get  a box van and pack it full of them and tow a quad behind . I'll spend the mornings selling Toadstool Freddies and spend the afternoons riding . Not quite the retirement I had in mind but I'll take it . Wink
